My story

Three decades, three countries, and one constant: mathematics teaching and the tools that support it.

01 1989–2014 · Türkiye

A mathematics teacher first

Ahmet Arduc trained as a mathematics teacher at Marmara University's Atatürk Faculty of Education in Istanbul, in an English-medium programme supported by a five-year Ministry of National Education scholarship (1989–1995).

For twenty years in Türkiye (1994–2014) he taught mathematics across primary and secondary levels, guided students through research projects, olympiads, exhibitions and clubs, and coached teams that earned regional, national and international distinctions.

02 2003–2012 · Publications and Ellipse

Building tools alongside teaching

Teaching and building have always gone together. In 2003 he published Mathematical Games and co-wrote SAT II mathematics books. In 2007 he co-founded Ellipse Training and Consulting, which launched an education portal in 2008 and went on to develop an online revision system, an e-whiteboard for remote teaching, online homework tracking, instant OMR test evaluation and, in 2012, a live web-based mathematics competition.

03 2014–today · Hong Kong and the United States

An international classroom

From 2014 he taught in Hong Kong: as Head of Mathematics at Rosebud Primary School, at The Harbour School, as an SAT and ACT instructor with Kaplan, and for six years at Sai Kung Tutors, where he taught mathematics from Year 8 to IB Higher Level, AP Computer Science and physics, and coached the Turkish Calligraphy Club.

Since 2022 he has taught in Arkansas, first at LISA Academy West High School and then at LISA Academy Arkansas Online School, where he teaches online high-school mathematics and AP Computer Science Principles and serves in K-12 mathematics coaching and teacher-leadership roles.

AhMath today

AhMath brings these threads together. AhMath LC, the online learning platform, is in daily use; AhMath Explore, AhMath Exams and AhMath Competitions are being built on the same experience. Alongside this work he writes on Medium and here about philosophy, learning, mathematics, science, creativity and society, and has practised digital calligraphy for more than thirty years.
